BUTTING – Special materials

BUTTING provides products from a diverse range of high-performance materials for specific corrosive applications in various sectors. Besides austenitic, duplex and superduplex steels and titanium, BUTTING has focused on the fabrication of special materials.

We have long years of extensive processing experience in forming, joining and heat-treating these materials. Since the mid-1980s, we have been producing pipes and piping components from special alloys, such as nickel-based alloys, for various projects with the highest technical requirements. We supply these products to customers renowned all over the world, especially from the chemical industry and the oil and gas industries.

Thus, for example, we made a significant contribution to the construction of the largest flue gas scrubber in the world. The flue gas scrubber, constructed for a Canadian oil company, extracts the oil locked in the sand by various scrubbing processes. BUTTING produced pipework systems and their fixings, including a maintenance platform with a total weight of around 180 t, made from the nickel-based alloys 2.4605 (Alloy 59) and 2.4819 (Alloy C276). Almost 1,000 components had to be produced in 27,000 hours of manufacturing in only 27 weeks. BUTTING succeeded in completing the work even before the required delivery date – to the satisfaction of the project managers in Canada.
