BUTTING – Pipes with Raumatic finish In case of pipelines for pneumatic conveyor systems furnished with smooth inside surfaces, it is possible that part plastication of the transported granulars occurs due to friction and increased temperatures. This can lead to the develop- ment of a film and so-called ”angel's hair” inside the pipes and elbows, resul- ting in material losses and contaminations. In the worst case, complete clogging of the pipelines can occur.
Already at the end of the sixties, BUTTING developed and patented a new process of selected roughening of the inside surfaces of the pipes, which prevents the clogging process. Turbulences of the boundary film are caused by the roughened surfaces whereby contact of the goods to be transported with the wall is reduced. The type of roughening and the depth of the roughness can be defined to suit the customers' specific requirements.
The Raumatic finish ensures careful transport of the goods and protection of the pipe material, thus increasing the service life of the pipe systems con- siderably. It should also be mentioned that in the case of pipes and elbows with Raumatic finish, there is only a loss of pressure of approx. 10 % as opposed to pipes with smooth surfaces. We produce products with Raumatic finish in outside diameters from NB 80 up to NB 300.
