BUTTING – Piggable pipes

The special requirements of the chemical industry have always caused the BUTTING engineers to introduce R + D programmes in order to look for inno- vative products. During the mid nineties we were asked to make an offer for welded pipes produced to extremely tight tolerances on the inside diameter, welds flat to face and a smooth inside surface.

As a result of this special requirement, the DIN 2430-1 standard based on the BUTTING works standard was first introduced in Germany in 1998 for piggable pipes in cooperation with the BUTTING engineers, users and producers of piggable piping components.

We have been stocking piggable pipes in outside diameters from NB 25 up to NB 150 in materials 1.4307 and 1.4404 acc. to DIN 2430-1 (Sept. 2001 edition) in 6 m or 12 m lengths ever since that time. We also produce piggable elbows acc. to DIN 2605, type 5.

In the meantime, the pigging technology is being used in nearly all industrial sectors. BUTTING has not only contributed successfully to the standardization of stainless steel piggable pipes, but has helped to get the pigging technology acknowledged by supplying more than 550 t of high quality products to date. Renowned companies like BASF and Bayer rely on our unique know-how in this field.
