BUTTING MPE in Belgium

BUTTING MPE (Mécanique de Précision pour Equipements) has been part of the BUTTING group since mid-2008. The Belgian company, based in Brussels, develops, manufactures and tests ready-to-install solutions for all industrial applications, especially for the nuclear industry. These include plants for separating mildly radio-active materials (glove boxes), special gantries for loading and unloading casks for storage of radio-active waste or special machines for filling and assembling fuel elements.

Plants for dismantling them are also developed and manufactured by BUTTING MPE. BUTTING MPE is also a specialist in testing and guaranteeing the usability of these plants or parts of plants. This is a particular prerequisite for plant parts and components which are to be used in the areas of a power station inaccessible to human beings.

In the field of liquid storage for spent fuel rods, very intensive cooperation had already existed for many years between MPE and BUTTING. In this area, BUTTING manufactured the rectangular pipes made from boron alloyed stainless steel and MPE designed the entire racks, assembled them and installed them in the power station.

Thanks to being strengthened by the alliance with BUTTING, BUTTING MPE will in future be able to tender for major projects as well, and to deal with them successfully. For BUTTING, the expansion of cooperation in an area where we have worked together for many years means we are strengthened in the nuclear technology field.
